Ground Control will be attending and exhibiting at the “Stance of the Union” gathering in Downtown Sacramento on Saturday October 23rd.

The event will take place in the multi level parking lot located at 3rd & L Streets, off of 3rd Street adjacent to the Holiday Inn.

The Stance movement is not about going around corners fast, which is our bread and butter, but more about looks and style. There will be many varieties of vehicles showing off their frame scraping dropped bodies, and gleaming ultra wide fat lipped rims.

Stance is the character behind the fitment. A car is no longer looked at as merely a mode of transportation, but as a canvas open for interpretation.

No trophies, no judges, and zero cost: Stance of the Union is a place to gather for all who are dedicated to scraping frame and pushing wheel fitment.

We will have a booth full of goods, and a couple of our own “stanced” rides to show off. One being our newly acquired Cosworth powered 190e Mercedes along with our rare BMW Mtech II E30 Cabriolet.

Hi,
…Mike told me to email him these pics… He said he wouldn’t mind replacing my GC coil overs with 800,000 miles on them!!! lol Yes, you heard right!
They have been on two ‘95 Civics and was going to put them on a 3rd, but they feel kind of weak! Don’t remember being able to compress them with my hands?? lol …and are rusted pretty bad!
These are pics of the back springs… (see photos)

The gold sleeve locks will not loosen or tighten anymore as well! The cars were never driven in winter except for one of ‘em and that was for only a few months!
I uploaded a few clusters ones in the two cars and the old ones that were in the same cars. I am missing another cluster that had more miles on it than any of the others.

I love GC and will never go with anything different!

Ground Control is proud to announce the new E30/E28 touring camber plate!

After many requests for a camber plate with a little less “race” and more “street” we went to work designing something for the enthusiast who appreciates good handling, but spends most of their time on the street.

These new plates feature over 23mm of total camber adjustment (16mm negative/7.5mm positive), with the ability to make corrective caster changes to equalize side-to-side caster in the stock position.

Other features include replaceable waterproof German radial load bearings, and urethane bushings for long life, less deflection, and a smooth silent ride on either stock, or 2.5″ racing springs.

Our camber plates are also engraved with the Ground Control logo in an arch which can be used to locate the plate in the stock position for easy, repeatable, adjustment from street to track and back.

All components are anodized or zinc plated for corrosion resistance.

We also offer our lifetime guaranty! (Bearings not included)

Recently we were fortunate enough to acquire a 2010 Honda CR-Z for development.

2010 Honda CR-Z with Ground Control Coilover Kit Installed

Our first impression of this little black specimen was a good one. The car is well sorted and comes with a bunch of cool little bells and whistles, such as interactive fluorescent gauges (The speedometer is peering through a magnified monocle which appears to hover mysteriously over the digital readout), a great stereo/bluetooth/media player, all packed into an attractive user-friendly dash.

But we’re not here for the bells and whistles. We weren’t initially impressed with the CR-Z’s handling. Although designed with sporty lines, and peppy character, for a Hybrid, the CR-Z didn’t shine in the twisty stuff.

2010 Honda CR-Z Interior

So we got to work. First came a few basic measurements to give us an idea of what we had to work with.

The CR-Z is not particularly complicated as far as suspension goes. It has a conventional strut assembly up front and a torque beam shock/spring combo in the rear, much like it’s Insight predecessor, which we had recently converted.

Our biggest challenge was retaining travel while lowering the car. We found the tires relationship to the wheel well to be the limiting factor. We could only go so low before these two got together, but we went for it anyway (as always!).

The CR-Z was actually much lighter than we expected weighting in at a svelte 2800 pounds. This is good for two reasons; we don’t have to throw huge spring rates on to support it appropriately, and the lower rates won’t overwhelm the stock dampers, as there aren’t any performance aftermarket replacements available yet.

Installed Coilover Kit

During the two days we spent on the engineering and install, we drove the CR-Z with a variety of rate combinations over a variety of roads, and eventually came to a combination complimenting the CR-Z’s sporty character.

The verdict, awesome! The CR-Z sits lower, handles better, and the owner has had nothing but good things to say about his “new” ride!
